Turquoise de Luchia
the "Storing" family legacy.........
Luchia......... A remarkable lady with a unique "love for life, family & friendship, and unspoken sense of European elegance combined with her Peruvian flare of fun, numerous coveted talents, and a passion for artisanal works left her footprint on the earth..... too soon. This love story began 42 years ago on a canoe in the Amazon River near Iquitos. Myron, a talented American pilot performing geophysical survey in the jungle, and Luchia, a Limena vacationing in the jungle, met in a canoe on the Amazon River and it was LOVE at first sight. Their courtship ensued with a dictionary in the park and three months later they were married in Lima, Peru..... the rest is history. On highway 93 in Wikieup, Arizona, Myron and Luchia established our home and legacy. With two pounds of borrowed turquoise, our humble kitchen table, and divine intervention an American dream was born. My childhood memories are marked by the countless adventurous road trips from the turquoise mines to the American Indian reservations with a car trunk filled to the brim with buckets of rough turquoise. As a child, I recall the anxious anticipation of what the trade might bring. With a blanket spread on the adobe floor in picnic fashion, a five gallon bucket of unsorted turquoise emptied in the middle and guarded conversation the negotiations began. As the "picking" of turquoise progressed over a few jokes, the guard eased and the finished goods made their way to our eyes. The excitement escalated as the finds were always greater than anticipated and the day ended with the breaking of bread over a traditional Indian meal. Turquoise and Native American Indian Jewelry & Arts came into our lives in 1975 and now "Turquoise is in our blood". We soon outgrew the kitchen table and the last 36 years in the Native American industry have brought an abundance of blessings to our family. We are grateful to the Native American Artisans for sharing their homes and talents with us and we gain great pleasure in sharing with you these amazing gifts. Nurtured by European elegance, Native Artisanal influence, and small hometown love, I have developed a passion for the eclectic. My life experiences have developed into beautiful stories and now tradition making my life rich and meaningful. It is my hope to share with you the excitement and blessings of an eclectic artisanal style and to help you create your own statement style with the finest of our Native American Jewelry and Art collection.
